Blind-Liecht Foundation
The purpose of the charitable Blind-Liecht Foundation is to promote dialogue and mutual understanding between sighted and blind in society. In fulfilling this aim, it develops and supports projects which create jobs for partially sighted and blind people. In fact, the Foundation is the largest private-sector employer of partially-sighted and blind people in Switzerland.?The Foundation's most successful projects include blindekuh Zurich, the blindekuh pavilion at Switzerland's Expo.02 and blindekuh Basel, with its fully-lit "sicht-bar" lounge-bar and event room.
The Foundation has won numerous awards
The Social and Arts Award from the Zürcher Frauenverein Unternehmungen ZFV, the Lilienberg Entrepreneur Award in the institutional category, and the Social Innovations Award from the Institute for Social Innovations in London. The founder and Chairman of the Foundation, Stefan Zappa, was honored with the "Swiss Social Entrepreneur 2007" award from the Hilde and Klaus Schwab Foundation for his work for blindekuh.
